What Ingredients do I Need for Baked Mac and Cheese?

  • 1 cup Elbow Macaroni
  • 1.5 cups Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon All-Purpose Flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan Cheese

Instructions: How to Make Baked Mac and Cheese

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease or lightly butter a baking dish.
  • Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  • Gradually add the milk to the roux, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Continue to cook and stir until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper, followed by the shredded cheddar cheese. Continue stirring until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring until the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce.
  • Pour the macaroni and cheese mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  • In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the macaroni and cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
