French Fish Soup Recipe

This French Fish Soup (Bouillabaisse) is a sophisticated, light, and protein-rich broth that adapts the classic Mediterranean technique. By substituting the traditional heavy rouille with a ginger-garlic, it creates a detoxifying and heart-healthy meal. It is exceptionally high in Omega-3 fatty acids, Iodine, and Vitamin B12, which support brain health and metabolic function. This version skips the traditional bread thickeners, keeping the soup clear, low-carb, and naturally gluten-free.

Instructions: How to Make French Fish Soup

  • Sauté the Base
Heat oil/ghee in a deep pot. Sauté the onions, ginger-garlic paste, and green chili until the onions are soft. Add tomatoes and cook until they break down into a pulpy sauce.
  • Infuse the Broth
Stir in salt, and black pepper. Pour in the stock or water (and saffron if using). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Poach the Fish
Gently place the fish chunks into the simmering broth. Cook for 5–7 minutes (depending on thickness) until the fish is opaque and flakes easily. Turn off the heat, stir in lemon juice, and garnish.
