What Ingredients do I Need for Murmura (Puffed Rice) Laddu?

  • 1.5 cup Rice, Puffed ( fresh ) - default
  • 2 tbsp Jaggery, Cane ( fresh ) - default
  • 1 tsp Ghee - default

Instructions: How to Make Murmura (Puffed Rice) Laddu

  • Crisp
Heat a pan and dry roast the puffed rice for 2 minutes on low heat. This ensures they are perfectly crisp before binding. Remove and set aside.
  • Syrup
In the same pan, add jaggery and water. Melt over low heat until it starts to froth. To check readiness, drop a bit of syrup in cold water; it should form a firm, hard ball that snaps when broken.
  • Toss
Add the ginger/cardamom powder and the crisped puffed rice. Quickly stir to ensure every grain is coated in the sticky syrup.
  • Shape
Turn off the heat. While still quite warm, wet your palms with a little water (or grease with ghee) and firmly press the mixture into round balls.
