What Ingredients do I Need for Tomato Puree (Sauce)?

  • 4 count Tomato, Ripe, Local - default
  • 1.5 tsp Cumin powder - default
  • 1 tsp Black pepper - default
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp Ghee ( fresh ) - default

Instructions: How to Make Tomato Puree (Sauce)

  • Blanch
Make a small 'X' cut on the bottom of each tomato. Place them in boiling water for 2–3 minutes until the skins begin to peel back, then immediately shock them in ice-cold water.
  • Peel and Deseed
Slip off the skins and cut the tomatoes in half. Use a spoon to remove the seeds if you want a super-smooth, professional finish (optional), then roughly chop the pulp.
  • Simmer and Blend
Simmer the pulp in a pan with a pinch of salt for 5–7 minutes to reduce excess water. Let it cool slightly, then blend into a smooth puree.
