What Ingredients do I Need for Dal Palak?

  • 20 g Bengal Gram, Dal - default
  • 20 g Green Gram, Whole - default
  • 20 g Lentil, Whole, Yellowish - default
  • 2 tsp Turmeric Powder - default
  • Salt - default
  • 4 cup water - default
  • 2 tbsp Mustard Oil - default
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds - default
  • 5 Garlic, Small Cloves - default
  • 1 Onion, Small - default
  • 2 Tomato, Ripe, Local - default
  • 1 bunch Spinach - default
  • 2 tbsp Ghee - default

Instructions: How to Make Dal Palak

  • Preparation
    Firstly , in a pressure cooker take all the dal ( lentils and gram) .
    Utensils:
    1. pressure cooker
  • Add turmeric and salt to taste and 3 cups of water .
  • Cover , and pressure cook foe 5 whistles .
  • Once the pressure is released , check the doneness of the dal .
  • In a large kadai heat 2 tbsp oil. ass cumin . cloves garlic and onion.
    Utensils:
    1. kadai
  • Saute until the onion shrinks slightly and changes color .
  • Keeping the flame on low , add turmeric and if needed then chilli powder , saute on low flame until the spices turn aromatic.
  • Further add tomato and salt and cook until tomatoes turn soft and mushy
  • Now add 1 bunch palak and saute until the palak shrinks slightly.
  • Further, add in cooked dal , 1 cup water and mix well adjusting the consistency.
  • Cover and simmer for 5min or until the flavours are absorbed well.
  • Now to prepare the tempering , heat 2 tbsp ghee add cumin seed .
  • Do not burn the tempering, immediately pour over the dal and mix well.
  • Finally , enjoy palak dal recipe with roti or rice
